In order to achieve a good ecological status of Austria’s running waters, measures to reduce hydro-morphological pressures on running waters can be subsidised. In addition to research funding, there are two areas of funding - for municipal funding applicants and for enterprises.
Under the Environmental Support Act (“Umweltförderungsgesetz”), funding is available for the renaturation of endangered river landscapes and their vulnerable ecosystems. All information on this can be found in the funding guidelines “Gewässerökologie für kommunale Förderungswerber” (“Aquatic Ecology for Municipal Applicants”).
Funding is available for measures to improve the ecological status of Austrian water bodies on the basis of the Environmental Support Act (“Umweltförderungsgesetz”). The corresponding funding guidelines "Gewässerökologie für Wettbewerbsteilnehmende” (“Aquatic Ecology for Enterprises”) entered into force on 1 January 2024.
The special guidelines for RD project funding as part of the national CAP strategic plan came into force at the beginning of 2023. These also include the promotion of measures to improve the ecological status of small and medium-sized running waters in rural areas.
Funding is available under the Environmental Support Act (“Umweltförderungsgesetz”) to promote research and the development of new technologies and processes in the field of residential water management and aquatic ecology.
A decisive share of buildings in Austria is threatened by floods. If whole settlements are concerned, a technical protective measure is often the best way towards more security. In the following article it is outlined which planning steps are gone through until the measure is implemented and subsidized.
