Enlargement policy is a very important political instrument of the EU. The enlargement policy has contributed to making Central and Eastern Europe modern and well-functioning democracies and has fostered far-reaching reforms in the candidate countries and the potential candidate countries.
The Council is the principal decision-making body of the European Union. It meets periodically at ministerial level to discuss and coordinate political strategies and to adopt legal provisions. The Council of the European Union has its headquarters in Brussels; in April, June and October the meetings are held in Luxembourg.
The aim of the OECD is to use its wealth of information to help governments foster economic growth and prosperity and fight poverty.
Currently 38 states are members of this organization; Austria was a founding member. Most recently, Costa Rica became the fifth Latin American country to join the organization in May 2021.
