Evaluation processes

Several colored paragraph mark

Draft laws and ordinances are sent to the competent authorities, representations of interest and institutions for evaluation, which are thereby given an opportunity to comment.

As the language of these laws and ordinances is German, the evaluation process is only available on the German pages.

After the expiry of the period of evaluation, ordinances are immediately adopted by the competent Federal Minister. Draft laws, however, need to be adopted by the Ministerial Council and are then, as “government bills“, referred to Parliament for further action.

All ministerial drafts that the ministry produced in the course of the XXVIIth period of legislation are available on the website of the Austrian Parliament. Laws and ordinances that have already entered into force can (after a short delay) be found in the legal information system of the Federal Government (RIS) as amended.
