An annual budget of 2 million is available for the funding of research and the development of new technologies and procedures in the field of residential water management and water ecology.

A research project is assigned to one of the following three categories and subsidized at most with the respective maximum rates. 

  • Scientific research (fundamental research not oriented according to commercial exploitation, results are available without restrictions) - subsidisation rate up to 100 %
  • Industrial research (integration of a commercial partner as well as commercial exploitation possible) - subsidisation rate up to 50 %.
  • Pre-competitive development (Pre-competitive development (process optimisation, development to market maturity, examination of the suitability for the respective application) - subsidisation rate up to 25 %.

The application and the further implementation of the subsidised research projects takes place via the Kommunalkredit Public Consulting.
