Austria´s position worldwide 2019

In 2019, Austria ranks 12^th worldwide with regard to international tourist arrivals by country of destination. Within the European Union Austria is the fifth most visited country.

In terms of tourism intensity (overnight stays per inhabitant), Austria is the fourth most popular tourist destination in the European Union after Malta, Croatia and Cyprus.

When it comes to Tourism exports per capita, Austria ranks on the 5^th place worldwide (4^th within the EU).

Another important data source for Tourism in the European Union (EU) is Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

The OECD measures tourism developments within the OECD economies.

Data on receipts and expenditure, domestic, inbound and outbound tourism, enterprises and employment as well as on international tourism consumption are freely accessible though the OECD data portal.
